Throughout my journey across Zhejiang, it was not the places I saw, but in fact the people I met that left the most significant impact.
My adventure began in Hangzhou, a city nestled on the shores of West Lake, known for its natural beauty and Alibaba's vibrant headquarters. I had the privilege of meeting with Carrie, who shared with me the inner workings of Alibaba, its unique company culture, and its unwavering mission. The passion she conveyed was infectious, and I left our conversation feeling deeply inspired. Alibaba's commitment to innovation and its dedication to making a positive impact on society left an indelible mark on me. I knew then that I wanted to be a part of this incredible journey once I completed my college education.
On top of that, I was able to have some great conversations with Amir, who immigrated to China ten years earlier from Pakistan. It was very eye-opening hearing about China from an immigrant's point of view, especially one who had no personal ties to the country before moving here.
In Yiwu I had the privilege of meeting with 依窈姐姐, a remarkable architect currently working on constructing an arts building for Yiwu International Academy. Her life story and work project left a deep impression on me. She shared her incredible journey, and I couldn't help but feel inspired to find my own passion and purpose. Her kindness and wisdom will forever stay with me.
Next on my itinerary was a visit to Wenzhou, where I had the honor of meeting Professor Wei. We delved into the world of entrepreneurship and agricultural development, which was eye-opening. His dedication to his work and the remarkable program they are building in collaboration with Tsingshan left me feeling inspired. The culture of entrepreneurship in Wenzhou and Zhejiang as a whole was truly captivating.
As I traveled through Zhejiang, I couldn't help but be struck by the incredible diversity of this area. Just in areas such as Hangzhou's you can find the beautiful west lake, and just minutes away a bustling city brimming with young entrepreneurs. From the massive manufacturing businesses in Yiwu to the innovation hubs in Wenzhou, each place had its unique charm and significance.
My journey was not just about exploring new places but also about exploring myself. I was reminded of the importance of finding one's passion and purpose, just as Yao Yao and Professor Wei had done. Their stories will continue to serve as a source of inspiration as I navigate my own path in life. Zhejiang, with its diverse landscapes and inspiring individuals, will forever hold a special place in my heart.
