Jesscia Chen Weiss writes in this New York Times opinion piece about current events such as the trade war and Hong Kong protests and their impacts on China.

"His bet has been that through cementing nationalism in China he will strengthen his hand. So far, this tactic has proved effective, but it is not without significant risks for China and for the world."
