The main lecture topics to be covered are policy towards China, Taiwan, and North Korea, and the impact of a dysfunctional policy process.

About the Lecturer:

Dr. Richard Bush 卜睿哲 is one of the most prominent specialists and policy analysts in U.S. policy towards East Asia.  Having served as the chairman and managing director of the American Institute in Taiwan, he is currently a senior fellow at The Brookings Institution in Washington, D.C., and co-director of its Center for East Asia Policy Studies.  His scholarly work has focused on Chinese policy towards Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Japan.  Before joining Brookings, Bush worked for nineteen years in the U.S.  government, in Congress, in the intelligence community, and for the State Department.
