Haiyan received her BA in Chinese Language & Literature (and minor in International Economics & Finance) from Fudan University, and her MA degrees in Chinese Legal History from Stanford University and in Global & International Studies from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Her research and teaching interests include cross-cultural understanding, capital-labor relations,international/regional cooperation and U.S.-China relations. She recently published her paper on China's new Labor Contract Law on the Third World Quarterly.
